Richard Prouty

Richard Prouty is in his fifteenth year of teaching high school choral music. Mr. Prouty is an active member of Georgia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators, and the American Choral Directors Association. He currently serves as the Vice President of Performance Evaluation for Georgia Music Educators Association.  

Mr. Prouty holds a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Georgia Southern University.

Mr. Prouty has been named Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. As a soloist, he has performed in numerous operas, oratorios, and musicals throughout his career. Mr. Prouty is currently performs with Coro Vocati and formally with Georgia Southern Chorale, Southern Crescent Chorale, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Choirs under his direction have toured domestically and internationally for many years.  Mr. Prouty’s choirs continually receive superior rating in performance and sight reading at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation.  He has had numerous students selected for the Governors Honors Program, GMEA All State Chorus, and GMEA District Honor Chorus, and Spivey Hall Honor Chorus.  

Mr. Prouty would like to thank the Whitewater High School faculty and staff, his friends, and his family for their continued support of the choral program. Most importantly, he would like to thank his wife Heather and son Whit for their support and encouragement throughout the year.
